Tuesday night somewhere in the ongoing analysis of the

Pennsylvania primary returns, a pundit to be traded for an unnamed pundit at a later date opined that young voters riding into the Democratic Pary on a wave of fervor for Senator Obama might become disenchanted should he lose.  My response to that is anyone who would leave the the party after one loss obviously has no understanding whatsoever of what it means to be a Democrat.

While both parties claim to have a big tent, the Dems are the true travelling circus.  If having three rings and a trapeze going were not enough, the party leadership periodically throws in a couple of side shows.  In the 1980s the party picked up that freak show known as the super delegates; this year it was the clowns who decided disenfranchising primary voters in two key states would add to the fun.  And, of course, there are always the magicians who wander the crowd turning the popular vote into loyalty based delegate counts.

Anyone who bought a ticket to the Democratic Party thinking the show was about electing a Presdent has a seat at the wrong venue, membership is strictly for entertainment purposes.  For those who may be leaving, at the very least stop by the souvenir stand on the way out and pick up an "I Voted Dem in 2008 and All I Got Was This Stupid T-Shirt".  I have six with various dates going back to 1972 - I do have three "winning" t-shirts, two of which read Clinton.
